Palazzo Tavernesi

Palazzo Tavernesi

At No. 67 on Corso Sangallo stands the elegant Palazzo Tavarnesi, a 16th-century building (remodeled in the 17th century) attributed to Antonio da Sangallo.
Arranged over three floors, it is characterized on the lower level by a striking smooth rusticated stonework and by windows that diminish in size in perspective.

It may be the “casa nuova” of the Di Monte family, which documents describe as being “near” their palace. The Tavarnesi family owned it in the second half of the 19th century; earlier (at the beginning of the 19th century) the palace was home to Carlotta Albergotti Siri, widow of Giorgi.
